Reference to “we”, “us”, “our” or “the credit union” refers to South Coatbridge Credit Union Limited and for the purpose of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

South Coatbridge Credit Union Limited is committed to protecting our members’ privacy at all times. We require information that is mandatory for membership to meet either legal or contractual obligations with you. Failure to provide such information will mean that the opening of an account may not be possible. We will ask for your consent for all marketing purposes independently.

How we use your information:

The Credit Union will use the information you provide for:

Legal reasons

(i.e confirmation of identity, auditing purposes, members registers’ and for prevention of financial crime).

Contractual reasons

(i.e your account operations & update, including applications made by you, credit checks and statistical information to better service the needs of our membership).

Legitimate interest

(i.e the recovery of owing debt).

Consent

(i.e marketing and research) on your approval.

Sharing of your information

We will only share your personal information with parties outside the credit union if asked by law for the purposes of identity verification, financial and fraudulent crime prevention, any company working on behalf of the credit union.

Retaining your information

The credit union will need to hold your information for a period of time including after you leave the credit union. The normal retention period for South Coatbridge Credit Union Limited is 10 years.

Data Protection Regulation

You have the right to: Access, Rectification, Erasure, Restricted processing, data portability, object to data processing, to withdraw consent, complain to the information commissioner’s office. Further details of these rights can be obtained from the credit union via Email, telephone or you can ask in person at the office. We aim to respond to your requests for this within 30 days or provide an explanation for any delay. We can update this privacy notice at anytime and will inform you of any major changes and its affects to you.
